The desalination project in Sirik county is one of the major projects of Hormozgan water and wastewater company to provide the potable water for residents in Sirik and its suburbs, which was entrusted to KRIP on October 1, 2014 as a B.O.O project. KRIP begins its activity with seriousness and humility. The first phase of desalination plant was launched in April, 2017 and the second phase was launched in June, 2018. The first phase of the impounding project is located on shore as two pipelines of length 700 m, of which 550 m is in the sea and 150 m is on shore. This project aims to gravitationally transport water to a pound of depth 9 m.
The second phase of the impounding project, at 15 km distance from the factory, is under construction, and it will be completed at early 2023. The water is transported from the pound to the concrete deposition pool of capacity 800 m3 and dimensions 10x20x4 constructed like a corridor. At the beginning of the pool, the coagulants and chlorine solution are injected to the water for deposition of suspended particles in the water and elimination of microscopic creatures. The water stored in the deposition tank are transferred to three gravel filters using a pipeline and two Grundfos pumps. In these cylindrical filters, there are three layers of silica with different gradations, which can eliminate the suspended solid particles.
After leaving the gravel filters, the water enters the feed tank, and then transported to two multi-media gravel filters through a pumping station located in the shed, consisting of two Grundfos pumps of capacity 180 m3/h.
As the water passes through two stages of gravel filters, the inlet water to the filter cartridge always has turbidity of lower than NTU1 and SDI
